LSU football coach Les Miles seemed to be happy with the way his team’s practice went on Wednesday.
Miles said after practice that the session was “very physical,” and that it was just what his team needed.
“The practice was heated,” Miles said. “Good speed, tempo was good, got some good running in at the back end … We’re still a ways away from having the end, but we’re making strides.
Miles also said the coaching staff has practiced a lot of younger players the past few practices but didn’t mention any players by name.
Miles said incoming assistant coaches Frank Wilson and Billy Gonzales were once again only able to watch practice while still waiting to be cleared to attend practice. Wilson and Gonzales were recently hired as wide receivers and running backs coaches, respectively.
“We hope to hear soon,” Miles said. “We were supposed to have heard something today, and it appears that we’ll hear after committee sometime between 8 [a.m.] and 12 [p.m.] tomorrow.”
Miles said LSU is still waiting on a ruling as to whether or not outgoing running backs coach Larry Porter will be able to coach in the Capital One Bowl. Porter is currently busy recruiting for Memphis.
