In its final regular season Southeastern Conference game, LSU struggled to keep pace.
The Tigers (10-20, 2-16 SEC) went into halftime trailing Mississippi State 48-30, and ultimately fell to the Bulldogs for the second time this season, 88-76.
LSU trailed by only eight points with 4:20 remaining in the first half, but allowed Mississippi State to go on a 15-5 run into halftime.
Early on, Mississippi State received help offensively outside of its starting five.
The Bulldogs’ bench scored 32 points, with 25 of those coming in the first half.
Sophomore guard Quinndary Weather dropped 13 of his 18 points in the second half for the Bulldogs while shooting 6-of-8 from the field.
For LSU, a trio of guards led the way in scoring, sophomore guard Antonio Blakeney and freshman point guard Skylar Mays both had 15 points. Sophomore guard Brandon Sampson added 14 points.
Junior forward Duop Reath earned his seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
LSU will play Mississippi State again on Wednesday in the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee.
