The 2016 edition of the LSU Golden Band from Tiger Land was selected to present one of their half time shows at the 2017 College Band Director’s National Association conference.
A panel of expert directors viewed the New Orleans theme show from this past fall and selected the Tiger Band as one of only eight in collegiate bands in the nation to get the opportunity to showcase their half time show.
The NOLA show featured excerpts from classic New Orleans themed songs such as “Second Line,” and ”When the Saints Go Marching In,” as well as incorporation of school songs such as “Tiger Rag.”
“Mardi Gras is all about having fun, some good times, and jazz is about just enjoying yourself and so when we bring those two things together we got the New Orleans show,” said Trumpet Section Leader Ryan McCue.
Video of the NOLA show as well as insight on music selection and visual design decisions will be presented by Director of Bands, Dr. Damon Talley.
“It’s an honor to be selected, to be one of eight to present at this conference and to have Tiger Band highlighted at a national level this way,” said Tiger Band Director Dr. Dennis Llinas.
The Conference will be held at the University of Missouri, Kansas City on March 15th through 18th.
The event will allow band directors across the nation to share knowledge and learn different marching band techniques to prepare for next football season.
