The NCAA approved a new regional/super-regional bracket for the Women’s Gymnastics Championships that will start the 2018-2019 season.
Thirty-six teams will be broken into four host sites, with events hosted over a three-day period. On the first day, two teams will compete in a play-in meet at each site, bringing the total number of teams down to 32.
The remaining eight teams at each site will split into two groups of four, and the top two teams in each group will advance to day three, bringing the total down to 16. On day three, two teams from the last group of four at each site will advance to the finals.
The finals consist of two four-team semifinals competing in a two-day event. The top team in each semifinal will then meet in the national championship.
