Quick access to food delivery from more than 50 restaurants just became more available to Baton Rouge residents as UberEATS has been introduced to the area.

UberEATS officially launched in Baton Rouge on Sept. 13. Users can access this service by downloading the free UberEATS app or using the website, UberEATS.com.

After downloading the app, users can use their Uber account to select a restaurant and place an order. The meal and delivery is paid for by the card on the Uber profile. Finally, the food is delivered to the user’s location.

UberEATS General Manager Avram Rampersaud said the app stands out from similar companies because of several convenient features. UberEATS will be available 24/7. As long as the restaurant is open, food can be delivered to the user’s location.

“With Uber, you get speed and reliability,” Rampersaud said. “We pride ourselves not just on our technology and products, but also in our operations, getting food delivered to where you are, whenever you want it.”

UberEATS is a global company. Because of this, the company is able to partner with global brands, such as McDonald’s, as well as local restaurants.

Uber has an organization within the company dedicated to improving customer service. The company’s priority is a great customer experience.

“The launch isn’t just about UberEATS,” Rampersaud said. “The thing we try to focus on is servicing all 3 of our customer bases. We’re excited because we think it’s a big win for restaurants to get better access to more customers that maybe they couldn’t reach. For careers and drivers, it’s just more opportunity to earn money. Then for residents of Baton Rouge and LSU students, it’s more opportunity to be able to get great food delivered to you at Uber speed.”

UberEATS made its initial launch in 2014 in Toronto. In the beginning, UberEATS and Uber were on the same app. After some confusion, the company decided to make UberEATS a standalone app. The company first came to Louisiana last year starting in New Orleans before deciding to expand to Baton Rouge.

The promo code TRYEATSBR will be available for users until the end of September. This gives users access to three orders without delivery fees. The code expires after one week.
