Football player Lyle Hitt and volleyball player Lauren DeGirolamo have been nominated for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship, the Athletic Department announced Friday.
The McWhorter scholarship is given to the Southeastern Conference’s top male and female scholar-athletes. Every school nominates a male and female athlete for the award, and one male and female student-athlete of those candidates are named winners.
DeGirolamo is a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a three-time member of the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America All-District first-team.
Hitt is also a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
The winners of the McWhorter scholarship will be announced April 6.
