Mark Benfield, associate professor in the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences, will hold an event tomorrow to show his never-before-seen video footage of the rare oarfish. The seminar, titled “The Gulf SERPENT Project: Studying Life in the Deep Sea from an Unusual Vantage Point,” is presented by the School of the Coast and Environment. Benfield will discuss the SERPENT Project, an “innovative partnership between academia and the oil and gas industries,” according to a news release. The event will be held Friday, March 5 at 9:30 a.m. in the Dalton Woods Auditorium in the Energy, Coast and Environment Building.
