La. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain lifted the cease and desist order on private outdoor burning Nov. 3.
The ban was put in place because of lack of rain that led to out-of-control fires. Increased rain has improved current conditions and burning is now allowed.
Citizens are advised to be cautious when conducting outdoor burning. It is recommended that fires are never left unattended and are kept at least 100 feet away from vegetation, wooded areas and buildings.
