Tigers from two different sports were honored Monday for their achievements this past weekend.
Junior running back Stevan Ridley was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, and freshman goalkeeper Megan Kinneman was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
Ridley ran for 123 yards on 22 carries against Tennessee and scored the game-winning touchdown with a 1-yard run on the final play of the game following the Volunteers’ illegal participation penalty.
His average of 111.4 rushing yards per game leads the SEC and is 15th in the nation. The Natchez, Miss., native has rushed for 100 yards three times this season and is averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
The former fullback has 557 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns on the year.
It is the first time Ridley has received the award.
Kinneman led the Tigers to their first SEC win of the year last
weekend in a 2-1 victory against Auburn.
The freshman from Missouri City, Texas, also recorded her second shutout of the season Friday in a 0-0 tie against Alabama.
Kinneman is holding opponents to .55 goals per game, and the Tigers are 2-1-2 when she is in the net. She has been rotating with junior goalkeeper Mo Isom the last few weeks but started both games of the weekend series after Isom sat out with a foot injury.
