(AP) — Federal marshals have arrested a suspect in last week’s deadly home invasion in Baton Rouge in which a woman was left dead and her 9-year-old daughter severely wounded.
Police say 20-year-old Aramis Jackson was found at a home in Violet. They say he had befriended a St. Bernard Parish woman over the Internet and had been staying with her and her children since shortly after the Sept. 24 shooting.
Jackson was identified as a suspect in the death of 42-year-old Alexandra Engler when the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab linked him to DNA evidence found at the scene. Engler’s daughter, who was shot six times, survived and is recovering after two surgeries.
Jackson faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. A second suspect remains at large.
