The No. 29 LSU women’s tennis team breezed by Louisiana-Lafayette, 7-0, this afternoon in the first half of a doubleheader at W.T. ‘Dub’ Robinson Stadium.

Sophomore Whitney Wolf and senior Nicole Kantor set the tone early for the Lady Tigers in singles, cruising to straight-set victories.

Wolf, who entered the match ranked No. 120 in the country, used a powerful first serve to blow past Audrey Wooland, 6-3, 6-3, while Kantor provided a masterful ground attack to blank Julie Mazinova, 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Hannah Robinson, sophomore Kylie Adamek and freshmen Kaitlin Burns and Keri Frankenberger all added singles victories of their own, with Burns’ 7-6, 2-6, 10-8 victory against Milou Israel to seal the match for the Lady Tigers.

The duo of Kantor and Burns steamrolled through Mia Gordon and Wooland, 8-2, and the Lady Tigers clinched the doubles point when Wolf and Frankenberg squeaked by Mazinova and Briggitt Marcovich, 8-6. Robinson and freshman Ebie Wilson rallied back against Shelby Dufrene and Israel to complete the doubles sweep, 9-8 (7-3).

The match against in-state rival ULL marked the opening of the dual season for the LSU.

The Lady Tigers will look for a Sunday sweep at 3 p.m. when they take on Praire View A&M.
