After an announcement by LSU athletics that LSU Soccer coach Brian Lee would be resigning his position, Rice Athletics announced he would be taking their head coaching job via Twitter.

Lee coached the Tigers for 14 seasons, finishing his career at LSU with a total record of 143-108-45, six NCAA Tournament appearances, including a stretch from 2007-11 where the Tigers made the tournament four of the five years.
