Louisiana’s Secretary of State announced yesterday he will not resign amid a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former employee.
Tom Schedler says he will finish out his current term, but will not seek re-election.
He faces significant pressure to resign from multiple elected officials, including Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.
In his pre-written statement, Schedler said that after a lot of consideration, he believes that this is the right decision, and he will continue to fight these allegations.
Schedler’s term as secretary of state ends in January of 2020.
