NEW ORLEANS- BUKU Music + Art Project 2018 took place March 9th and 10th from Mardi Gras world in New Orleans. 
Friday’s lineup included a variety of artists like rap trio Migos, R&B star SZA and rock group MGMT, all of which performed on the main Power Plant stage that was located by the entrance with the spooky Market Street Power Plant as the backdrop. 
Artists such as Snails, Alison Wonderland performed from the Float Den stage, which was located within one of the Mardi Gras production houses. The closed roof location warehouse featured a stage with lots of LED displays and lights. Around the stage were some Mardi Gras floats illuminated by mood lighting, which allowed fans to see them over the fence that surrounded them.
Headliners Migos and SZA both made headlines for different reasons.
Although scheduled to perform at 10:00 PM, the Migos did not arrive to perform until around 10:35 and seemed to give a less than inspired performance. 
SZA actually performed on-time, but being energetic may have been her demise, as rolling her ankle on stage midway through the performance of Love Galore. Her set would end early as she tended to her ankle. 
Overall, day 1 of the music and arts festival left fans content, and set the table for day 2 which would feature musical performances from headliners Bassnectar and Lil Uzi Vert on the Power Plant stage. 
The latter artist would end up never arriving as the festival sent an alert to fans on the official BUKU Project app at around 7:45.
Electronic music artist Gryffin, who was originally set to perform at Wharf Stage, which was stationed next to the Mississippi River, moved his set to the main Power Plant stage.  
Other rappers including the Jay Electronica did arrived and a represented as he performed in front of his home city of New Orleans. Electronica had a high energy set on the Ballroom Stage, a concert hall with wrap around balcony viewing. He found himself performing from the crowd and on multiple occasions and even allowing fans to come on stage with him near the end of the set.
Electronic pop duo Sylvan Esso also performed from the Ballroom stage, performing songs with the help of a crowd that seemed to know every word of their set.
Bassnectar would bring in a massive crowd for his headlining performance from the Power Plant stage. Fans could be seen dancing, headbanging and twirling light-up objects while he performed. 
The bass during his performance could be felt from anywhere on the huge area of land that the Power Plant stage allotted. His performance featured large LED screens and a light show, before ending with a firework performance at the end of his set. 
Although Bassnectar was not the last performance of the night, he put a punctuation on an incredible two-day festival that did not disappoint.
