In a SEC Tigers dual, LSU and Missouri struggled offensively, but LSU’s pitching lead the purple and gold to a close win.
“The story of the game for me was Hess, even though he faulted there in the 7th inning by walking three straight guys. I thought the kid was just magnificent. He proved he’s a Friday night starter in the SEC.”
“Bain’s got swagger in everything he’s doing. He’s my idol, I love him. He’s Roy Hobbs right now for me.”
Although LSU struggled to get runs, the Tigers did score four times including a Beau Jordan solo home run.
“I went up there thinking, ‘first pitch, fastball,’ I got it and just tried not to over-swing, keep it basic. I got my pitch, a pretty good swing on it, and it went out.”
Aside from Jordan’s homerun, LSU’s offense was unproductive, going 0-10 with runners in scoring position, before Zach Watson got a hit in the eighth to give LSU its final run on the night.
“We need to take advantage of our opportunities and get those runs in. We need to figure out a way to do that. We just left too many guys on third with less than two outs. Fortunately for us, Watson stepped up and got a big hit to just give us a little bit of breathing room there in the 9th inning, and that was huge.”
LSU continues their weekend series against Missouri at The Box on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
