After a dominant performance against Ole Miss Friday night, LSU senior pitcher Allie Walljasper was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Against the Rebels, Walljasper set team and conference records with 19 innings pitched and 68 batters faced. She recorded nine strikeouts, retired 22 of the Rebels’ last 24 batters and held them to a .108 batting average throughout the entire game.
“Her performance was heroic,” LSU coach Beth Torina said in a press release. “It is a game that we will be talking about for a long, long time.”
Walljasper is now 11-3 as a senior and has a 0.74 ERA, which is fourth in the conference and eighth in the nation. She has struck out 94 batters and walked 18, and has pitched in five shutouts during this season.
The No. 14 Tigers will play No. 10 Tennessee on the road for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday at 5 p.m.
