Here at the Bernie Moore Track and Field Stadium the Tigers hosted one of their biggest home meet, the annual Alumni Gold meet, where the competition today was definitely present. In a season of domination the Tigers are continuing to make a name for themselves especially our women Tigers.
“Well they have been very consistent all year long. Of course Rachel, this is her second time running in force, running the third leg. So she’s just kind of catching on. I got a lot of confidence in their ability. I think that we are still running pretty conservatively. I think they can run faster. Our objective is to keep winning. At the end of the day that’s what our objective is. Go to the NCAA championship, get a godl medal in the 4 by 100m relay, and get a big championship belt,” said Coach Shaver.
This weekend’s meet was not just about those who were competing that day but also about the athletes who have left their mark on the Bernie Moore track. Some of the alumni present were apart of the women’s 1996 NCAA outdoor championship. These alumni have contributed to records being broken not just here at the Bernie Moore track but nationally as well. We even had a few alumni who wanted to shout out to their support.
“Shoutout to my mom. You know I love you. You raised a true man. You feel me. Word to my mother, I love you,” said an alumni Tiger.
With it being mid-season, The Tigers continue to practice by becoming stronger as individuals and as a team. Big meets that they are preparing for are the SEC Outdoor as well as the NCAA Championship.
Next week the Tigers host their last outdoor home meet Saturday April, 28, 2018 at 9:30 am.
