Junior all-arounder Sarah Finnegan, coaches Jay Clark and Bob Moore and associate athletic director Mark Ewing earned the top honors in Central Region as voted by the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W).
Finnegan was named the Central Region Gymnast of the Year after also earning the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Year.
Finnegan is a First-Team Regular Season All-American on bars, beam, floor and all-around. She finished the regular season within the top-10 of those events, and was tied for first on uneven bars.
Finnegan tied fellow LSU gymnast Myia Hambrick for the all-around title at the Raleigh Regional.
Clark and Moore were named the Central Region Co-Assistant Coaches of the Year for the fifth time after leading LSU to top-five finishes on their respective events.
Clark coached LSU to its best bars performances in school history finishing No.1 in the country for the first time. Clark’s bars line set the school record twice at 49.725 and 49.750 and set seven of the program’s 10 best scores.
Finnegan, along with junior Lexie Priessman, sophomore Kennedi Edney and Hambrick all finished the season ranked in the top-15 on the event.
Moore’s vault lineup performed consistently, finishing No. 5 in the country with an Regional Qualifying Score of 49.400. Moore has led the Tigers for a 49.000 score on vault for 89 straight meets.
Hambrick and Edney finished 13th and 15th respectively on the event.
As the Central Region Administrator of the Year, Ewing lets the way for LSU gymnastics to set attendance records across the board.
In 2018 alone, the Tigers set the average attendance record, finishing second in the nation and first in the SEC. LSU also set the single-meet attendance record and sold out the PMAC in back-to-back meets for the first time in school history.
Following a first place Raleigh Regional win at 197.675, LSU will advance to its 29th NCAA Championship appearance on Friday, April 20.
