LSU Student Government released a statement Wednesday morning announcing the executive staff’s intention to better communicate with the University campus after receiving criticism for the passage of several resolutions on April 11.
The resolutions passed will allow the student body to vote on whether or not recommended cuts to the Student Media fees, the Performing Arts Fee and Campus Life Fee should go before the Board of Supervisors.
Members of these outlets voiced their frustration during an April 24 meeting about not being involved, or made properly aware of the intention to recommend the fees be cut.
The press release states the newly-elected Executive Staff support the legislation, as well as the work of The Student Fee Value Assessment Committee, but feels communication across campus could be improved.
“Recognizing that cutting any fees will affect those associated, the new administration wants to use this experience to better communicate with all areas of campus in order to promote ethics and transparency in SG dealings with the student body and student organizations,” the press release said.
