Yesterday, a group of LSU students working on an architecture project found a dead body near Southern University’s campus around 3:15 p.m.
Today, the body was identified as Yvette Nettles, 51, of Baton Rouge. She had been reported missing since January 29. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office says the death is still unknown.
According to The Advocate, Nettles had a history of mental health issues including paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Southern University has released a statement calling this “a very unfortunate incident that occurred in their community” and that their “thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Yvette Nettles.”
