A rough start for LSU coach Ed Orgeron and his staff continues as the No. 1 cornerback in country announced his decision to play for Alabama over LSU on Wednesday.
LSU will have lost yet another player to the Alabama machine, which could have an effect on future recruiting and will essentially put the Class of 2018 at a severe disadvantage.
LSU’s depth at the cornerback position will also be in a tough spot considering the Tigers missed out on DB Mario Goodrich. LSU did not sign a defensive back in the early signing period.
The No. 5 overall player in the ESPN 300 rankings was favorited to attend LSU for most of his recruitment, but the Crimson Tide made a late push for Surtain.
“They win championships,” Surtain said on why he chose Alabama.
