“You can’t walk six batters in two plus innings and expect to have a lot of success. It was just a rough outing for him,” LSU Head Coach Paul Mainieri says about Zack Hess’s struggles against Notre Dame in the Tigers game Saturday night.
Hess gave up eight runs, six walks and five hits in just over two innings. Mainieri pulled the sophomore pitcher in the third, but the Tigers’ loss is the second straight game against Notre Dame where LSU was down big, 8-1 after three innings. ”
“Two nights in a row, we’ve gotten in a big whole, and tonight was just too much to dig out of.”
The Tigers end their series against Notre Dame Sunday morning. First pitch is 11 a.m.
