Sophomore infielder Jake Slaughter may not forget the dead-ball penalty he earned in Game 2 of the College World Series finals last season.
Slaughter slid with his cleats up into a Florida shortstop, which meant the runner could not run from third to home to score.
The Tigers ended up losing the game 6-1, giving up the national title to the Gators.
However, Slaughter will not let that moment haunt him.
“It doesn’t really get at me,” Slaughter said. “It’s over. It doesn’t define me as a player.”
Slaughter and the rest of the Tigers will look to start a new season soon, leaving last year’s mistakes in the past.
The Tigers will face Notre Dame for opening day on Feb. 16 at Alex Box Stadium at 7 p.m.
