BATON ROUGE- An 18-year-old man died during a fraternity initiation one month after he moved into his new dorm at Louisiana State University.
Max Gruver died in September during an initiation with Phi Delta Theta.
After Gruver’s death LSU’s Greek Task Force has been trying to make a change by holding a series of meetings. One was held on Feb. 31, 2018 at the LSU Foundation Building.
In this meeting, the Task Force discussed different ways to get people to become active by possible putting together a formal committee to revise all Greek-related policies, and different ways to put across that hazing has a zero tolerance at LSU.
When asked if what happened to Gruver was the cause of the provisions being changed, the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at LSU, Mari Fuentes-Martin said, “Max Gruver was the breaking point.”
