Les Miles will return to the Big 12.
The former LSU coach is finalizing a deal with the University of Kansas to be the program’s next head coach, according to a report by Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger Friday afternoon.
Miles coached in the Big 12 at Oklahoma state from 2001-04 before coming to LSU.
He was at LSU for 12 seasons (2005-16), compiling a 114-34 and a BCS National Championship in 2007. Miles also led the Tigers to an undefeated regular season in 2011 before falling to Alabama in the BCS National Championship game.
Miles was let go in the middle of the 2016 season after a 2-2 start.
Miles emerged as a front runner for the Kansas job early last week after the university confirmed it would fire coach David Beaty at the conclusion of the 2018 season. Beaty was 6-39 as head coach.
