This season, the LSU Tigers have had one of the best defenses in the country, in large part thanks to true Sophomore Safety Grant Delpit. 
Delpit, born in Louisiana, came to LSU from IMG academy as a 4-star recruit. Delpit has made huge strides in his sophomore season and is leading the SEC in interceptions and first among defensive backs in sacks. 
“The two coaches helped him a lot,” LSU Safety John Battle IV said. “He earned different techniques and skills like that. I’m just happy to see him blossom.” 
Delpit has a lot of talent around him including two top 10 picks in Greedy Williams and Devin White. But he has found a way to shine through and play a integral role for this LSU team. 
“My standards are DBU,” LSU DB Grant Delpit said “They try to come in, disrespect us, that’s what we gotta do to spread teams, we gotta shut em down, so. They were talking the talk so we had to go out there and show them what we were about.” 
“Right now, he got all the juice,” Battle said. “you know he is in the limelight. I’m happy for him. I’m proud of him, I tell him that. I told him Thursday, I said you know right now you’re kinda of on track to be better than Jamal. 
He was like “What?”. I was like yeah. You really could be better than Jamal. He was like “Nahhh.” I’m telling you right now as a true sophomore, you’re better than Jamal Adams.” 
Number nine has a long way to go if he wants to be remembered as one of the greats of the legendary DBU. But he’s on his way there, just recently being compared to former LSU all American safety Jamal Adams. 
“It’s just a testament to all his hard work,” Battle said. “How hard he’s been going since the summer and the spring and I’m just happy to see him succeed the way he is.” 
Delpit looks to continue his spectacular sophomore season at home versus the No.2 Georgia Bulldogs and bring home a win this week for the tigers.
