LSU athletic director Joe Alleva released a statement Wednesday regarding basketball coach Will Wade being brought up in court during a federal investigation.
Yahoo! Sports reporter Dan Wetzel reported that Wade spoke to sports agent Christian Dawkins on the phone about 2019 recruit Balsa Koprivica.
Wade’s named was brought up in court during the federal investigation trial against former-Adidas executives Merl Code and Jim Gatto, as well as Dawkins.
Alleva’s statement states: “We are, of course, aware of the information presented in court yesterday and widely reported in the media. At the moment, that information is a snippet of a conversation in an active federal case. We stand ready, as always, to work with the NCAA on this and all matters in our constant effort to ensure compliance in all athletic programs. We are and will continue to be an athletic department committed to integrity and excellence. I believe Will Wade is building a program marked by those very characteristics even as he led this team through tragedy. He is a smart and driven coach who works as hard as anyone in college athletics. I am excited to see where he leads this program for years to come.”
Wade also denied doing business with Dawkins earlier on Wednesday at SEC Media Days.
