LSU fans have quickly become known for GoFundMe’s this season, after U.S. Rep. Garrett Graves started one for LSU’s field-storming fine and a fan starting one for #FreeDevinWhite billboards in Birmingham, Alabama.
On Friday, an LSU fan started another GoFundMe for “Operation Purple Sky,” where they hope to fly ariel banners with the #FreeDevinWhite logo on them in Jacksonville, Florida during the Florida-Georgia game.
The GoFundMe explains that the plan is to do the same for the LSU-Alabama game on Nov. 3, which junior linebacker Devin White will have to sit for the first half after being ejected for targeting in the second half of LSU’s 19-3 win over Mississippi State.
“It started with billboards, which was our ground game,” said Paul J., the organizer of the GoFundMe. “Now we are going vertical.”
The GoFundMe states that each flight is about $2000 for a total of $4000. The target goal is set at $8000.
“All extra funds, and we hope they will be substantial, will go to the United Cajun Navy, which has been providing immediate and effective hurricane relief at a grass-roots level to hurricane and flood victims across the country.”
As of 3:30 p.m. Friday, almost $3000 had been raised by 125 people.
