Sophomore forward Brandon Rachal announced via Twitter that he will be transferring from LSU this summer.
Rachal saw sporadic minutes as a freshman, averaging 4.4 points per game. Rachal’s role increased as the season went on for his high motor and quality defense.
With an incoming forward class that includes Naz Reid, Emmitt Williams and Darius Days along with returning senior Daryl Edwards and junior Wayde Sims, the role for Rachal was still to be determined heading into the fall.
Rachal’s transfer now opens up an extra scholarship slot should the team find a player to fill it.
“I would like to take this time to announce that I will be transferring from LSU and open my recruiting back up,” Rachal wrote on Twitter. “I want to thank the entire team/coaching staff for helping me grow as a young freshman. I believe that in the long run this decision will benefit me and that I will continue to grow as a person and as a player wherever God takes me next.”
