Basketball player Wayde Sims was killed in a shooting near Southern University early Friday morning.
Sims, a junior studying Kinesiology and a native of Baton Rouge, was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Two police officers on the scene told TigerTV that they are still questioning people in the area.
A close friend of Sims said, “I am devastated. We used to hang out everyday. I can’t believe that this has happened.”
LSU will hold a press conference today at 10 a.m. to address Wayde’s death.
LSU head coach Will Wade released the following statement:
“We are all devastated. We need your prayers for Wayde, for his family, for all of us. We are heartbroken.”
