LSU gymnastics coach D-D Breaux announced the team’s 2019 schedule which includes the Southeastern Conference Championship at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans and the Baton Rouge Regional at the PMAC.
“It is really an exciting schedule and one that will get us ready for championship season,” Breaux said in a press release. “To be able to host two big meets in New Orleans and the PMAC for postseason shows the commitment our University and the state of Louisiana has for our sport.”
LSU will host Cal to open the season. SEC rivals Florida, Missouri and Georgia will also travel to Baton Rouge, along with non-conference opponents NC State and Oregon State.
The Tigers will travel to Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas and Arizona, as well as the annual GymQuarters Invitational in St. Charles, Missouri.
LSU has won both the SEC regular season and SEC Championship for the past two years in a row. The state has not hosted the SEC Championship since 1998.
The Tigers will also host a NCAA Regional for the first time since 2014 and will be one of the first sites in a new postseason format.
The regional will span three days, with nine teams fighting for two spots at the NCAA Championship. The NCAA Championships will take place over two days at the Fort Worth Convention Center, where eight teams will battle for spots in the “Final Four on the Floor.”
