After losing to Alabama on Saturday, the Tigers were looking to rebound Tuesday night against Georgia. But the Tigers play, much like the weather outside, was COLD. LSU shot below 50% from the field. After the game, Will Wade said that the team has to heighten their level of play.
“Things have to go a certain way for us,” LSU HC Will Wade said. “We can only beat you a couple of different ways. Really good teams can beat you 7-8-9 different ways.”
Through one half, the Tigers chances of winning looked pretty good. They led 34-24 and were dominating the Bulldogs on the defensive end. But Georgia opened up the second half on a 20-7 run. Despite falling in that hole, the Tigers were able to claw their way back as the game saw multiple lead changes.
Down one with 39 seconds left, Duop Reath hit a go ahead basket to put the Tigers up 60 to 59. But with only 5 seconds left, UGA star Yante Maten was able to score the game winning layup in traffic.
“Lack of execution on our part,” LSU Gaurd Brandon Sampson said, referring to what happened in the second half. “We knew, a lot of teams that come out…play well against us at halftime. I think it’s something that we really need to work on.”
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday when they travel in the road to take on Vanderbilt.
