The Board of Regents is considering changing its funding formula, according to a report issued to legislators this afternoon.
Possible changes include:
-Creating different funding models for 2-year and 4-year institutions
-Tying institutions’ funding to the same benchmarks as the LA Grad Act.
-Calculating costs based on the end of a course instead of the 14th class day
-Establish a maximum funding loss for an institution in a single year.
The funding formula is used to determine what institutions get what portion of the state’s higher education funding. The Regents will discuss the proposal for final approval at their meeting next week.
