The section of Raphael Semmes Road between Highland Road and East Campus Drive will be closed because of nearby construction, according to a broadcast e-mail.
The construction, which will entail a new bookstore and parking garage, is estimated to finish in about a year, according to the e-mail.
“Traffic will be allowed one way only westbound (towards Highland Road) until the end of the project which is anticipated to be completed late spring 2012,” the e-mail says.
Storm water drainage will be installed on Raphael Semmes east of East Campus Drive to Corporation Canal, which should affect traffic for East Campus Apartments residents, according to the e-mail. That construction is expected to take two to three weeks.
“This work will impact traffic as new pipe is being installed (the contractor will have flagmen directing traffic),” the e-mail says. “Please note that the contractor will need to close the intersection of East Campus/Raphael Semmes to install part of the project but will schedule this over a weekend.”
