20-year-old non-student Jerrell Antonio Goings was shot at Wolf Creek Apartments shortly before 2:30 p.m. in an attempted robbery, according to Jim Sughrue, director of public affairs for the Raleigh Police Department.
Goings sustained a “nonlife-threatening wound to his leg,” Sughrue said in an email. He was transported to the hospital to receive care.
Two suspects were seen entering 307-208 Wolf Green Drive shortly before the incident and were seen running from the scene of the crime just after the shooting occurred, according to Sughrue.
According to Raleigh Police watch commander Lt. A.G. Russo, it is unclear at this point if Goings was involved with the attempted robbery or was the victim.
The investigation at Wolf Creek is ongoing.
UPDATE:
Goings was back at the scene of the crime at 4:30 pm, and although he had a slight limp, he was up and walking. Detectives on the scene would not allow reporters to speak with him.
No one has been charged in connection with the Wolf Creek shooting, but Sughrue said the Raleigh Police Department has some persons of interest in custody.
“We have detained some individuals in connection with our investigation,” Sughrue said. “As the investigation moves forward, if those are in fact the suspects, then we certainly will charge them.”
