LSU defeated Alabama 3-0 Friday night to run their record to 14-6, including 7-3 in SEC play, good for best in the SEC West.
The Tigers breezed through the first two sets, which saw a combined two ties and one lead change.
The Tigers held on in a wild third set which saw five ties to win 25-18.
“I’m really excited about the level of intensity and the level of determination that we played with today,” Coach Fran Flory said.
Coach Flory believes that this win may be a springboard for the rest of the season. “We may be on the cusp of getting back on a great flow and really running with things,” she said.
LSU was led by Desiree Elliott’s 13 kills and Sam Delahoussaye’s three service aces.
The victory over Alabama extended LSU’s win streak over Alabama to 11 matches.
LSU continues their home stand Sunday against Ole Miss, who entered the day 1-9 in SEC play.
Coach Flory knows that Ole Miss is getting healthy and will not be a pushover on Sunday. “Ole Miss though the second half of SEC play, I think is probably the most dangerous team in the league.”
LSU faces Ole Miss at 1:00 on Sunday. The match will be televised by CBS.
