Calloway led a tremendous defensive effort that surrendered just one goal in two matches in a 1-0 shutout of Oregon on Friday night and a 1-1 draw with No. 13-ranked Pepperdine on Sunday afternoon.
While also helping the Tigers secure a 2-1 victory at Houston on Tuesday night in the last match of a five-game road swing to start the season, Calloway’s performance helped lead the Tigers to an unbeaten week with a 2-0-1 mark while allowing just two goals in 290 minutes of action for a 0.62 goals against average.
For the week, LSU also limited opponents to an average of 8.6 shots, 3.3 shots on goal and just 1.0 corner kick per match in three matches to limit their number of scoring opportunities.
Calloway’s defense was especially impressive against Pepperdine’s potent offensive attack that scored 15 in seven previous matches on the year entering Sunday’s contest for an average of 2.2 goals per game. The Waves were held in check for much of the afternoon while scoring just one goal and being outshot by the Tigers 14-11 in total shots, 5-4 in shots on goal and 8-0 in corner kicks.
