The LSU cross country team will run shorter races this weekend at the 2011 McNeese Cowboy Stampede.
The Lady Tigers are slated to run the 5000-meter race and the Tigers will run four miles, differing from the typical five miles.
“This isn’t a typical cross country racing distance,” said senior Richard Chautin.
Chautin posted the Tigers’ best finish last weekend, placing sixth overall at the 2011 LSU Invitational, LSU’s only home meet.

Elliott said the team will have an off week after the race, during which they can train hard and rest up for the Chile Pepper race on Oct. 15 in Fayetteville, Ark.
“Our true test is when we line up against 70 teams at the Chile Pepper two weeks later to see how we do when we’re running against the real cross country runners,” Elliott said.
