LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and linebacker Josh Johns have surrendered to authorities after the Baton Rouge Police Department issued a warrant for their arrest for the felony charge of second degree battery.
BRPD had asked the players’ attorney Nathan Fisher and LSU coach Les Miles that the players turn themselves in.
Jefferson and Johns are at Parish Prison, where they are being booked for the felony counts charged against them for their alleged roles in a bar fight at Shady’s August 19.
Miles announced that Jefferson and Johns are suspended indefinitely.
“Jordan and Josh have been suspended indefinitely,” Miles said in a press release. “We will continue to cooperate with the authorities in an effort to find out exactly what took place during the incident.”
“As sad as this incident is, it’s important that we learn from this and that we take away a valuable lesson. This has weighed on all of us. It’s time for us to come together as a team and focus on what we are here to do.”
On Tuesday, police interviewed Jefferson and Johns, in addition to offensive lineman Chris Davenport and wide receiver Jarvis Landry about the fight. The next day, police searched Jefferson’s off-campus apartment and took almost 50 pairs of shoes as evidence and took a DNA sample of Jefferson.
Warrants were not issued for Davenport or Landry.
