Sgt. Don Stone of the Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed to The Daily Reveille on Friday afternoon that quarterback Jordan Jefferson, 20, has been implicated as being involved in a fight outside of Shady’s Bar between 1:30 and 2 a.m. on Friday morning.
“We’re not naming him as a suspect, but witness information leads to believe there’s a good possibility that he was present at the time of the fight,” Stone said.
Stone said four people were injured and took themselves to the hospital, and they have all been released with minor injuries.
Baton Rouge resident Andrew Lowery said he was involved in the altercation. He would not comment further, but said he has hired a lawyer.
Associate athletic director and sports information director Michael Bonnette said no lawyers had contacted him by early Friday evening, and he is waiting for police to finish the investigation.
Stone said there are ongoing investigations to see what other LSU football players were involved. At this time, no other names have been released, and no arrests have been made.
An Almaza restaurant employee said on Friday afternoon she didn’t know anything about the incident, and two employees at Cyclone Laundry said their cameras didn’t catch the altercation. The restaurant and laundry store are located next to Shady’s.
LSU coach Les Miles said in a news release on Friday afternoon that he is gathering information.
“We are aware of the incident that took place at an off-campus location at which some of our players were present,” Miles said. “We don’t know to what extent our players were involved. We are trying to gather as much information as possible to get a better understanding of what exactly took place last
