Junior wide receiver Russell Shepard has been declared ineligible for LSU’s season opener against Oregon, the athletic department announced Thursday.
According to the release, he was suspended conferring with a teammate about an NCAA inquiry before said teammate met with the NCAA.
If the suspension remains, Shepard will miss a “number of games.” LSU does plan to apply for Shepard’s reinstatement, but no timetable has been set for that process.
Shepard can still practice with the team.
