LSU redshirt freshman cornerback Drayton Calhoun has left LSU and transferred to Middle Tennessee State, The Daily News Journal reported Friday.
Calhoun, who never saw the field during his career at LSU, began classes Thursday at the University, according to the report. Calhoun originally came to LSU as a running back, but switched to cornerback in 2009 while redshirting because of a crowed LSU backfield.
The Clarkston, Ga. native was a SuperPrep All-American and was named to the ESPNU 150 as a senior at Tucker High School. He is expected to switch back to running back at MTSU, according to the report.
Calhoun would normally have to sit out a year to fulfill NCAA transfer rules, but he has made a appeal to the NCAA for a family hardship that would make him eligible to play next season if granted.
