Spring is a time of flowers blooming, temperatures climbing and being completely done with school thanks to the wonderful week students call Spring Break. But, teasing us with a week-long break, and then forcing us to return for all of April and the beginning of May with no breaks whatsoever is almost unbearable. As usual, music is a necessity to make it through this dark academic time.
Here’s a spring playlist to help you finish up midterms and get lit this Spring Break:
“March Madness” by Future
It’s March. The NCAA tournament, also known as March Madness, begins today. There is no better song to listen to right now. Plus, a little Future can always help you get through midterms and party during spring break. Definitely a win-win situation.
“Days Are Gone” by HAIM
The Haim sisters are basically incapable of making anything but stellar music. This track from their last album of the same name is spring in your ears. Just pretend the “days” they’re referring to are the days you have to attend class.
“Formation” by Beyonce
Spring, summer, fall or winter, there’s always room on any playlist for Mrs. Carter. Get in formation, and go to Red Lobster.
“Work” by Rihanna feat. Drake
RiRi gave us a gift by releasing “Work” this February. It’s a perfect song for hanging out at the beach or just hanging out in your bed until noon. Get to work, work, work, work, work.
“Sound & Color” by Alabama Shakes
This track is a religious experience. Let frontwoman Brittany Howard’s voice — and the xylophone — carry you into spring break.
“Go Outside” by Cults
The title alone will inspire you to get out of the house. Put your phone or laptop down for five seconds, go for a walk, go to the beach, enjoy the warmer weather. Our parents didn’t even have the Internet for God’s sake.
“Cry Baby” by The Neighbourhood
The band’s dreamy California sound was made for spring vacations. This track, with its catchy, beachy chorus, deserves to be in repeated rotation.
“untitled 07 | 2014 – 2016” by Kendrick Lamar
Fresh off his recently released “untitled unmastered.” this song will have you levitating along with Lamar. “Pimp, pimp! Hooray!”
