Just two days before the start of spring practices, LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron has agreed to a three-year contract, and defensive line coach Ed Orgeron has been named the Tigers’ new recruiting coordinator, according to a report from The Advocate.
Pending approval by the LSU Board of Supervisors, Cameron’s agreed upon contract is believed to be comparable to the contract of new defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, the report states. The Advocate is also reporting Orgeron will receive a raise and extension from his original contract worth $450,000, which would have ended next March.
Cameron, whose original three-year contract was with $1.5 million, arrived in Baton Rouge in 2013, helping lead that year’s offense to the second most total yards in school history. However, in the last two seasons, the Tigers offense ranked 75th and 58th nationally, respectively. In both seasons, the Tigers were outside of the top 100 in passing.
Orgeron replaces now UT-San Antonio coach Frank Wilson as recruiting coordinator. After Wilson’s departure in January, the Tigers finished with the No. 6 ranked recruiting class, according to 247Sports, but took home nine of 247Sports’ top-10 recruits from Louisiana.
