Update:LSU men’s basketball spokesperson Kent Lowe said men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones has not had discussions about stripping junior forward Brian Bridgewater’s scholarship for the 2016-17 season.
Reports from 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge Friday said Bridgewater’s scholarship would not be renewed. The move would open the door for LSU to add another player before the signing period ends.
The 6-foot-5 Baton Rouge native averaged 2.2 points, 1.6 rebounds per game and made appearances in 19 games last season.
The Tigers are in the running for of the last remaining ESPN 100 recruits, forward Deshawn Corprew and guard Charlie Moore.
Corprew, 6-foot-5 forward from Hampton, Virginia, recently told ESPN that he was choosing between LSU, Kansas and Texas A&M.
Moore, a former Memphis commit recently took a visit to LSU, according to CBS sports. The Tigers recently hired former Memphis assistant Robert Kirby, who was on staff while Moore was commitment to Memphis.
LSU has until May 18, which is the deadline for players to sign their national letter of intent.
