What to watch for
Defensive improvement: After allowing 80 points in an exhibition game versus Reinhardt, LSU coach Johnny Jones put an extra emphasis on defense in practice. In particular, the Tigers are focused on slowing down Terriers’ sharp-shooter Fletcher Magee, who was third in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage at 47.9 percent last season.
“Their post guys can do a great job in terms of picking and popping,” Jones said. “The way that they run their offense and the way they read and play off of what you do defensively; whether you’re switching and whatever your coverage is, they’re patient enough to take advantage of it and they’ve got guys that are capable and they know their roles.”
Expected starting lineup:
-
G Antonio Blakeney
-
G Jalyn Patterson
-
G Brandon Sampson
-
F/C Duop Reath
-
F Aaron Epps
Epps to start for Victor
Junior forward Craig Victor will sit out the Tigers’ season-opener, because of “violating team rules,” Jones said. Junior forward Aaron Epps, who started for Victor versus Reinhardt, will again get the nod in Victor’s place. Epps averaged 3.8 points per game last season and played in 29 games, earning two starts.
