The Tigers season returns to normal today, after an unscheduled bye week last weekend. LSU (3-2, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) face an up-tempo, high-powered offense in Southern Miss, who ranks seventh in the country in total yards.
What to watch for:
In LSU’s “Tell the Truth Monday” practice, the Tigers worked a good bit of motion defense (and offense, too). In multiple sets, to counter Southern Miss’ spread offense, LSU’s safeties shifted to man-to-man coverage, leaving Tre’Davious White as the lone safety.
Offensively, LSU lined its fullbacks — J.D. Moore and Bry’Kiethon Mouton — near the sidelines at wide receiver. Many times on Danny Etling’s cue, those fullbacks would slide back into LSU’s I-formation.
