We sat down with former LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman one day after the release of Les Miles on Sunday.
Bertman was the one who brought Miles to Baton Rouge 12 years ago. He was looking for someone who could be a long term solution instead of leaving after two or three years.
“Les had something besides being very personable,” Bertman said, “Les had small children and I thought that was very important because everyone loves Baton Rouge and in order to get away from that three and out I wanted someone that would stay a while.”
Bertman spoke very highly of Miles’s character and believes his exit was due to fans needing a change more than the players.
“The kids just adore him. He is a players coach,” Berman said, “Everybody loves him. Even know people may say ‘well it’s time or coaching fatigue’ it’s really fan fatigue.”
The rest of our interview with Bertman will be featured on the Tiger TV Tailgate Show on Saturday at 4:30.
