Rashard Lawrence, a five-star rated defensive tackle from Neville High School, committed to LSU, he announced at a ceremony on Friday morning.
Lawrence became the 22nd commitment to LSU’s No. 1 class for 2016, according to 247Sports composite rankings. He chose the Tigers over Ohio State, which sits one spot behind LSU in 2016 team rankings.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound lineman is rated as the No. 5 defensive tackle in the nation and the No. 2 player from the Louisiana, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
The Monroe, Louisiana native is also the eighth player in the Louisiana top-10 player list to commit to LSU, according to 247Sports. The other two players in Louisiana’s top 10 are currently uncommitted but have LSU among their offers, including Archbishop Rummel cornerback Kristian Fulton.
