Devin White, a 247Sports four-star athlete from Springhill, Louisiana, has verbally committed to LSU, he announced at a ceremony on Friday afternoon.
White is the No. 5 athlete and the No. 7 overall player from Louisiana, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Among several other schools he received an offer from, White chose the Tigers over Arkansas, Alabama, Ole Miss and Florida State.
The 6-foot, 258-pound prospect is listed as a running back and an inside linebacker. He accumulated 31 touchdowns and 1,650 rushing yards in his senior year at North Webster.
White was also arrested on two separate incidents in 2015, reportedly charged with misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile in November and misdemeanor careless operation of a motor vehicle and flight from an officer in December.
White’s commitment is the 20th pledge for LSU’s No. 1 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports 2016 rankings. He is the first athlete of the Tiger commits but would be the third linebacker prospect. LSU doesn’t have any other running back commitments for this year’s class.
White has enrolled in spring classes and will start school next week.
